The Ridenhour Prize for Truth-Telling was awarded to National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden and filmmaker/journalist Laura Poitras Wednesday. Speaking via video call to a packed room at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, Snowden and Poitras called for changes in how whistleblowing is viewed by the government. Among the high-profile attendees was former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, who criticized the lack of interest in the event by mainstream media outlets.
